Prescription Drug Policy

There are times when a patient’s evaluation and x-ray may indicate the need for limited prescription narcotic medications. Be aware that dental or facial pain will not be diagnosed nor treated over the phone. I do have professional boundaries, and I cannot pursue a course of action unless I believe that it would be in my patient’s best interest. You will need to call for an appointment to be seen in my office if you are having a problem and wish for my help. The office hours are as follows:

9:00AM - 5:00PM. Monday

9:00AM - 6:00PM. Tuesday

9:00AM - 5:00PM. Wednesday

9:00AM - 5:00PM. Thursday

If a medication has been prescribed, the following is to be understood. My office routinely checks KASPER reports. I do reserve the right to refuse narcotic pain medicine if there is suspicion of abuse or misuse, or for requesting refills if due to patient delay in completing necessary dental treatment. Narcotics are scheduled drugs and might not be refilled for any reason, even for loss due to theft.

It is your responsibility to advise me of your complete past and current medical history, as well as any medications you may be allergic to prior to receiving any prescriptions. If you omit current medications you will not be prescribed any narcotic pain medication. In the event you experience an unexpected side effect, you may be asked to return the previously filled prescription to your pharmacist before a different prescription will be issued.

You are to take your medication as prescribed. To use your pain medication in excess will mean no further prescription refills.

In the event of a refill request, you must contact my office early (before 3PM) during business hours as mentioned above. Request made after 3PM will be reviewed the following business day.

You must provide my office with a valid phone number so that we are able to return your call.
